Quiz Night Fundraiser

A great time was had by all, at the quiz night fundraiser.  All proceeds were given to St Margaret's Church after their devastating fire a short time ago.

Helping the Community

Harcourts Vision has been thrilled to be able to assist in a number of our community activities, whether it is a donation of time helping with sausage sizzles at school fairs, to printing of  newsletters or letting non profit organisations use our board room for their meetings.  A number of our agents also sponsor various sports groups including squash, golf, bowls etc

Outward Bound Fundraiser

Outward Bound is a 21 day course that challenges people to do things out of their comfort zones, set goals and reach their full potential - both at Outward Bound and in every day life. I completed Outward Bound in early 2013 and it was one of the best things I have ever done! I was lucky enough to receive some funding to attend my course, and now I would like to give back so that others can also experience the magic. OB is quite expensive, but it is life changing, so hopefully I can help make it easier for a couple of others to attend.

I am going back down to Outward Bound to run their end of course half marathon again. I am hoping to raise at least $1500 for their scholarship fund. I am going to have to work pretty hard, as I will be the oldest runner by a good 7 years and I don't want to come last!!

Experiencing Outward Bound has changed the way I think about, and approach, challenges in my life. Since coming home I have had more belief in what I can achieve and this led to, among other things, a change of my day job (for the better!). I believe all young people should have the chance to go to OB should they want to. You can make a sponsorship donation here:

Donations are tax deductible and 100% of your donation goes to Outward Bound.

Please note: I am fundraising for the OB Scholarship fund - NOT to attend  the course again myself. All donations via Give a Little will go directly to Outward Bound

Hi again,

We are now into the business end of the domestic season with National Champs only a few weeks away. The crews I’ve been named in are the U22 pair and quad and hopefully I can get a seat in the Southern RPC Premier 8 but this won’t be named until pretty much the last few days before the champs. If I get in this crew I would be rowing alongside the likes of Hamish Bond and I would get the opportunity to race for a ‘Red Coat”, the prized blazer you received with your first National Championship title in the premier/open category. This was one of the goals I set out at the start of the season  so if I do that would be one to tick off the list!

Recently I have been away quite a bit. I was in Twizel for five days mid January for the Canterbury Championships and just got home yesterday after another five days at the South Island Champs. Over the last weekend I just raced the pair, as this regatta is treated as a trial regatta, and the national selectors mainly look at the small boats so the focus was to perform well in our small boats. I row my pair with Cameron Crampton who was also in my NZ Four last winter, we raced well over the weekend coming 3rd in the Open pairs race which was a good result as we were the fastest U22 crew in the race and were only beaten by one crew of two previous Olympians and another crew that are too old to race anything but open. Come the national championship we’ll only be racing other people who are also eligible to make the U23 NZ team and won’t have to worry about racing the older guys.

On Wednesday I fly up to Cambridge to race the pair at North Island Champs and then stay on for another two weeks when we will then race both the pair, quad and hopefully the eight at National Champs.

Here is a photo from the recent South Island Champs.

I'll keep you posted on results,
Logan
